Students and Parents: In regard to the daily pledge of allegiance and Hot Springs Action News, when we tried to do it live via Google Meet, there was simply too much interference, so our District Leadership Team met and decided to move this segment of the day to each of teacher's Google Classroom (Grades K-5) and/or your first period teacher's Google Classroom (Grades 6-12). Therefore, the pledge and news will take place first thing at 8:35 am once you have logged into the classroom. Thanks so much for your support as we continue to navigate through the current remote learning session, and the ebb and flow of a challenging, yet successful school year.
Dear Parents and Guardians: On December 14, 2020, the District was notified that a student had tested positive for COVID-19. The positive test was confirmed on December 14, 2020. The student was last in person-to-person contact with Hot Springs students and staff on December 11, 2020, 3 days prior to the student’s diagnosis. There are a significant number of staff members that have been identified as close contacts, and thus will need to quarantine for the next 14 days. For any others that are at risk of exposure, the Sanders County Health Department will be in contact with those persons to determine a safe and appropriate course of action. It is recommended that any person who feels ill seek out their medical provider for specific instructions. Hot Springs School District 14-J is in ongoing contact with the Sanders County Health Department and reviews the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance to complete cleaning the school and other related facilities. School officials will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further information if and when it becomes available. Hot Springs School District 14-J will switch to remote learning as of tomorrow, December 15, 2020. Students should plan to be remote learning through Wednesday, December 23, 2020, thus allowing time to lessen the chance of exposure to COVID-19 within our school community. Beginning Tuesday, December 15, 2020 through Wednesday, December 23, 2020, students and parents/guardians should expect that remote schedules, guidelines, and expectations will be followed. For more details about remote learning guidance and other resources that may be helpful during school closures, please contact your teacher. All scheduled girls basketball practices are henceforth postponed until after a two week period and may continue as of December 28, 2020. School will switch back to in-person learning on Monday, January 4, 2021. At this time, you may pick up your student (s) at the school if you wish; students that are not picked up will be sent home on buses at 3:30 pm today. Thank you for all you are doing to help your children learn, connect with their teachers, and continue important daily routines. If you have other questions for us not addressed here, do not hesitate to contact me at 406-741-2962. Sincerely, Gerald Chouinard Superintendent
